Meet Abbie Hendren

Fine dining technique, with real heart

Abbie represented London and the South East on BBC Two’s Great British Menu 2026. She has cooked in two Michelin-starred West London kitchens, The Glasshouse in Kew and La Trompette in Chiswick, and was head chef at Sam’s Waterside and Teal by Sally Abé before coming home to Kew as head chef at Trindle Stores. Read about her move to Kew in Hot Dinners.

She cooks for life’s milestone moments, so every dish stays in your memory long after the meal.

From a recent Charlie masterclass

“I am very happy with the master class I attended with the Charlie team and Mark O’Brien. I picked up many new skills and new ways to use my Charlie oven at home. I have been to three masterclasses now and they never disappoint.”

Our new masterclass home

A secret garden in the heart of Kew Village

Right beside Kew Gardens station, Trindle Stores is a family-run grocery shop, garden centre and café, and now a restaurant too. Walk under the garden centre arch and you’ll find a secret garden with a tipi at its centre, strung with fairy lights and winter greenery.

On a November evening, with the Charlie ovens glowing outside and dinner served in the tipi, it’s a magical place to celebrate the season.

Abbie’s new kitchen

This autumn, owners Cam and Scott Trindle opened the kitchen with Abbie as head chef, cooking modern British food with produce from the Chiswick House Kitchen Garden. Read more in Hot Dinners and Harden’s.
