Questions, answered.
How long does it take to heat up?
About 20 minutes to reach 250°C and about 30 minutes to reach 400°C, depending on your charcoal. For pizza, allow 30 minutes so the stones heat right through.
How long does the charcoal last?
Half a football of lumpwood charcoal holds 200°C for 4 to 6 hours. A full grate holds 100 to 130°C for up to 16 hours, for low and slow cooking. You can add charcoal during a cook.
What can I cook in it?
Grill, roast, bake, slow cook, smoke hot or cold, and cook pizza at 375 to 400°C. With nine rack positions you can cook several dishes at once, at different heats.
Can it stay outside all year?
Yes. Charlie is made from 304 stainless steel with a weatherproof powder-coated finish, and the closed oven cooks in all weathers. A cover keeps it looking its best between cooks.
How much space does it need?
It is 62 cm wide, 60 cm deep and 185 cm tall with the chimney (155 cm without). Keep 5 cm clear at each side and 50 cm clear above the chimney. You need an opening of at least 80 cm to wheel it through. Outdoor use only.
Does it arrive ready to use?
Yes. It arrives assembled on a pallet, with free kerbside delivery to mainland Great Britain in 3 to 4 weeks, whichever colour you choose. Slot the chimney into the top, place the charcoal grates and it is ready to light.
What fuel does it use?
Good, dry lumpwood charcoal. Wood is only for smoky flavour: a palmful of chips or a small chunk. How to choose your charcoal.
What warranty does it have?
5 years for home use and 2 years for commercial use. Read the full warranty.
Can I see one before I buy?
Yes. Book a video demo, visit Harrods or another stockist, or cook on one at a masterclass.
