Gin Lemon Drop Cocktail

The perfect drink to serve while the Charlie is coming up to temperature. Bright, fresh and effortlessly simple, it's the ideal way to welcome guests before dinner. Serve with warm focaccia, romesco dip and a few olives while everyone gathers around the Charlie.

Ingredients

  • 50ml London Dry gin
  • 25ml freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 20ml sugar syrup
  • Ice
  • Caster sugar, for the rim (optional)
  • Lemon twist, to garnish

Method

  1. If using a sugar rim, run a lemon wedge around the edge of a chilled coupe glass before dipping it into caster sugar.
  2. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add the gin, lemon juice and sugar syrup.
  3. Shake vigorously for 15 to 20 seconds until the shaker feels ice cold.
  4. Strain into the prepared glass.
  5. Garnish with a twist of lemon and serve immediately.

Charlie's Tip

If you're entertaining, mix the gin, lemon juice and sugar syrup in a jug ahead of time and keep it chilled in the fridge. As guests arrive, simply shake individual servings with ice. It's a great way to start the evening without missing the conversation.
