Charlie Oven all began from a love of baking bread. We're delighted to announce our first pizza and bread-making masterclass with the wonderful baker David Wright -
David is a baker, author, and teacher. He's worked for some of the UK’s best bakers and bakeries, including Lily Vanilli, The Dusty Knuckle, and Pump Street Bakery, where he is currently the Head Baker.
On the course, you will learn the secrets of baking - and bake three different types of delicious bread.
Experience the art of creating perfect pizzas with The Breaducator! Gain an understanding of the fundamentals of making a dependable pizza dough that consistently produces restaurant-grade results. Learn techniques for developing the dough, shaping it into pizzas and baking to perfection, and discover how to prepare toppings like chargrilled vegetables with the Charlie Oven. Attendees will receive a pizza peel to take home after completing the course.
Ciabatta is a beloved Italian bread, highly respected in professional baking. Demonstrating a range of baking techniques, this bread allows one to take their baking knowledge to a higher plane in just one day.
Our Maple Bacon Lardy cake is an enriched dough made with butter in lieu of the namesake lard in a brioche style. Participants will craft one loaf to bring home, perfect for a special occasion like Mother's day.
You'll learn how to manage live fire for baking (many home bakers need to appreciate the importance of the oven temperature and the incredible difference it makes to the quality of your bakes). We will show you how to do it in the Charlie Oven.
You'll learn about pre-ferments and make your own to take home. Next, you'll get hands-on experience learning to mix the dough and take it through mixing, kneading, folding, and shaping. Then finally, baking. You'll take home your creations and a baking goodie bag.
The day will culminate with a shared meal with drinks.
You'll leave with a goodie bag filled with your bakes from the day and a Charlie Pizza Peel, a dough cutter and some lovely flour from Wild Farmed.
This course is an ideal introductory class for all skill levels.
